Sitting in amongst a crowd of small businesses at a market can seem daunting, particularly if you're new to it and many others have been attending markets for years. However, there's plenty that you can do to make sure your market stall stands out and is a success.
Make the products the focus
Using a neutral table cloth and limiting the extras that you display on your stall, will allow your products to be the focus so customers can take it all in and are more likely to see something that catches their eye.
Add your branding
Simple things like a branded table runner or a photo frame with your logo in can help people to establish what your business is about. This will not only help people to find you if they're on the lookout for you, but it also means customers are more likely to be able to search for you afterwards online or on social media.
Keep it simple
Don't overload your stall with a huge variety of products as it can seem overwhelming to customers who won't know where to look. Sectioning your stall into the different categories of products you sell can be really beneficial, and using things like a coloured table runner to visually differentiate can also help to define the sections.
Add some height
Not only will this help people to spot you from a distance, but it will also make your stall more appealing to look at and may even encourage people to stop and look a little longer. Just make sure any taller stands are well secured to your stall and thoroughly risk assessed.
Make pricing obvious
Many people will be too nervous to ask for prices which may then deter them away. If your pricing is obvious this is more likely to encourage people to buy that would otherwise walk away. A printed sign in a photo frame is a very simple and cost effective way of displaying pricing, but individual pricing signs and stands can also be purchased without costing a fortune.
Your market stall is likely to evolve over the years, and your products may do as well. If you spot a display at a market that you love, we'd always suggest striking up a conversation with the stallholder - we're all a big community and here to help eachother!
